You may discovery at some point that it might save quite a bit of time to update your linux boxes form a local source.
At its heart, an an APT repository is served up via http. So using something like an apache2 site is an appealing choice. Please note that so far we are talking about creating a clone from a source repository. Adding your own apt packages requires additional additional work. That additional of custom apt packages is certainly tangential to this.
